Research Objectives

The objective of this project is to develop new knowledge on the effect of preceding crop and residue management on dry bean productivity in western Canada.

Dry beans are planted on a range of crop residue types in Manitoba with various tillage practices. The objective of this project is to develop new knowledge on the effect of preceding crop and residue management on dry bean productivity in western Canada.

In spring 2017, corn, wheat, canola and pinto beans were planted at Carman and Portage. After harvest, each of the crop types were split into tilled and untilled plots. In 2018, these plots will all be planted to pinto beans.
